To see, hear, and feel -- all seems quite easy. In fact, these can hardly be achieved without highly complex and sophisticated information processing in the brain. The Perception and Emotion Research Group aims at elucidating the computational principles and neural mechanisms of sensory information and emotion processing by integrating various approaches including psychophysics, neurophysiology, and computational modeling. We believe that a profound understanding of human mechanisms is crucial for developing communication technologies that are high quality and easy to use.
