Biography

Hiroki TAKESUE received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in engineering science from Osaka University, Japan, in 1994, 1996, and 2002, respectively. He joined NTT Access Network Systems Laboratories, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in 1996 and moved to NTT Basic Research Laboratories in 2003. Since then, he has been engaged in research on quantum communications and novel computation schemes based on nonlinear optics. He was appointed as Distinguished Scientist of NTT in 2013 and Senior Distinguished Scientist of NTT in 2017. He is currently a group leader of Quantum Optical State Control Research Group. He received several awards including the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (the Young Scientists' Prize) in 2010, Nishina Memorial Award in 2017, and IEEE Photonics Society Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2018.
He was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, Stanford, CA from 2003 to 2004, and a guest researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Boulder, CO in 2014. He is a member of IEEE and the Japan Society of Applied Physics.
