Demo 2.3: Direction-selective masking of multi-slit view (noise contrast: 100%)
A demonstration of the masking effect of moving noise on the multi-slit viewing. A word "NOISE" is moving to the right behind the upper slit array, and to the left behind the lower slit array. The inter-slit areas are filled with random-dot noise patterns, which move to the right in the first half of the movie, and to the left in the second half. Noise contrast is 100%. Letter identification is barely possible when the letters and noises are moving in the opposite direction, but almost impossible when they are moving in the same direction.
