Norio KUMADA received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1998, 2000, and 2003, respectively. He joined NTT Basic Research Laboratories, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in 2003. Since then, he has been engaged in the study of highly correlated electronic states in two-dimensional systems. He was a visiting researcher at CEA Saclay during 2013-2014. He was appointed as Distinguished Scientist of NTT in 2010. He is currently a member of Quantum Solid State Physics Research Group. He received the Young Scientist Award of the Physical Society of Japan in 2008, and the Young Scientists’ Prize from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2012.
