Biography

Koji AZUMA received his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Osaka University, the University of Tokyo and Osaka University, Japan, in 2005, 2007, and 2010 respectively. He joined NTT Basic Research Laboratories, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in 2010. His current interests are quantum information theory, especially for building the theory for a quantum internet. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Toronto during 2012-2018 and at the University of Cambridge in 2017. He was a part-time lecturer in Graduate School of Pure and Applied Sciences, the University of Tsukuba in 2017. He was appointed as Distinguished Scientist of NTT in 2018. From 2018, he is a Joint Appointment Researcher of the PRESTO, Japan Science and Technology Agency. From 2019, he is a Guest Associate Professor of Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University. He is currently a member of Theoretical Quantum Physics Research Group. He received Shoji Tanaka Prize from Department of Applied Physics at the University of Tokyo in 2007. He is a member of the Physical Society of Japan.
