MEMS/NEMS  Superconducting Quantum Circuits  Nanofabrication 

Target of the research
   We pursue the innovative development of hybrid devices by combining different types of micro/nanostructures such as low-dimensional semiconductor structures, superconducting circuits, and micro/nanomechanical systems.
   Applying micro/nanofabrication technologies, low-dimensional semiconductor structures, superconducting circuits, and micro/nanomechanical systems are now widely and routinely fabricated. In our group, hybrid systems are being developed where we combine these different types of structures. These studies can lead to the discovery of novel physical phenomena which could be exploited to pioneer devices operating on new physical principles. For example, we are studying micro/nanomechanical structures fabricated using semiconductor heterostructures that have inspired new device concepts utilizing optomechanical and electromechanical functions. We are also studying hybrid quantum system by coupling superconductor qubits to spin systems in diamond. To facilitate our studies, we are also developing novel three-dimensional nanofabrication techniques, applying electron beam lithography and focused ion beam techniques to create cutting edge structures.
